Bob Savakinus

Bob is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) and holds a BA with a major in Political Science and minor in Education from Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre PA, and a MA in Education from Marywood University in Scranton, PA.


He has worked as a Transition Education Specialist for the Luzerne County Intermediate Unit #18 for 28 years developing and supervising educational outreach programs for Special Needs Students using community resources.


Bob’s work in the production field began due to his love of the local community and its history. Since 2008, he has produced, directed, and/or written several documentaries including “Rocky Glen Park and its sequel “Return to Rocky Glen Park”; The Confederation of Union Generals”; “Full Steam Ahead Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Steamtown NHS” and “A Token to the Past: The Story of the Electric City”; “Hansons Amusement Park”; the Agnes Flood 50th Anniversary and “Scranton’s Championship Season”, a retrospect based on the making of the 1982 film “That Championship Season”.


As Founder and President of Cannon Fire Productions, Bob was excited to turn his attention to feature films in 2021, as one of the producers of “The Beast Comes at Midnight” and the recently completed “12 to Midnight” film. Currently he working on “Shadows of the Past” for which he is the executive producer, and is an associate producer for the upcoming “Black Creek”.


Bob is also the host and producer for “In a Nutshell”, which he started in 2020 in collaboration with Comcast Channel 19, Electric City Television. To date he has produced and hosted more than sixty episodes which can be viewed locally on public access channels or on Youtube. In addition to his work as an Educator, Bob is involved in many state and local community organizations with a special interest in arts and culture. He has served on the boards of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the Lackawanna County Industrial Development Authority, Lackawanna County Performing Arts Center Authority, Lackawanna County Arts, Culture & Education Committee, Scranton Cultural Center, Lackawanna Valley Conservation Association, American Bangor Slate Quarry Heritage Park, Luzerne County Community College Schulman Art Gallery, the Greater Pittston Cultural Coalition. and NEPA Film Festival (Northeast Pennsylvania). His work with these organizations have provided Bob with an excellent opportunity to promote the work of local artists, and explore some of our region’s unique sites and locations, which has benefited him greatly in his efforts to make local Films.
